(Material researched & presented by Barbara Armstrong)

In 1870, Arthur Ridgway Poyntz established a pharmacy in Commercial Street, Mount Gambier.

In 1873 he commenced advertising that he sold homœopathic medicines, external and internal, pillules, globules and tinctures from Wigg's Adelaide. Cases fitted up and supplies.

Poyntz also advertised his own patent medicines and had several agents who sold Poyntz's Baby Powders, designed for babies who were teething, feverish, etc.

After Mr Poyntz's death in 1880 the pharmacy was sold. However, Poyntz's Baby Powders were still being advertised in 1943.
