Son of Dr John Feild Deck. He obtained his MB in 1896 and his MS in 1901, both from Sydney University. He was registered on February 12, 1896. He was appointed as resident at the Melbourne Homœopathic Hospital after completing his first qualifications. He left at the end of the year and was appointed as Resident Surgeon of Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.
He was listed as an Honorary Medical Officer of the Sydney Homœopathic Hospital in the annual report of 1906.
In the Post Office Directories for NSW of 1900 to 1903 he was recorded as practising at 203 Macquarie Street, and at Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurst, and in 1911 at Darlinghurst only. In 1913 he was at the Moffitt Chambers, on the third floor of 283 Elizabeth Street, along with Ernest and Norman Deck, both dental surgeons, and H. Leigh Deck, physician. His residence was at “Maplestead” in Shirley Road, Wollstonecraft. In 1915 he was at Culwulla Chambers in Castlereagh Street, Sydney.
