Sir William was a supporter and subscriber to the Sydney Homœopathic Dispensary in 1859. In a letter of 28 April 1860, written from Government House in Sydney to W.E. Denison, Sir William commented on the weather in Sydney and stated that he was treating rheumatic pain with homœopathic remedies. (From the catalogue of papers of Sir William T. Sir William was Lieutenant Governor of Tasmania from 1847 to 1854. He was Governor of NSW and Governor-General of Australia from 1855 to 1861.
