In 1871 Andrew P. Miller announced that he had purchased the pharmacy previously known as Smart & Co. which was on the corner of Murray and Liverpool Streets. In June of that year he advertised that he had "made considerable additions in every department of his stock". This included the sale of homœopathic medicines.
According to Mr Miller's obituary (1904):
"the handsome block of buildings colloquially known as 'Miller's Corner' remains a standing monument of his enterprise and successful business methods".
and
"Thus he founded in Hobart one of the finest chemist and druggist establishments south of the line".
Mr Miller also sold general medicines, patent medicines, as well as homœopathic medicines.
