John Henry Gould, son of homœopathic chemist Henry Thomas Gould, was born in Hobart on 10th April, 1883. He married Marjorie Lois D'Emden in 1910. 

He became a partner in his father's business, and became sole proprietor upon his father's death in 1928.

John Henry Gould died 30th December, 1970.
