Dr Ratten graduated from Boston University School of Homœopathic Medicine in 1900. In the Australasian Medical Directory for 1900 he was recorded as being at 82 Cotham Road, Kew, while in the 1915 edition he was at 880 Sydney Road, Brunswick.
 

The Electoral Rolls show that from 1909 to 1924 he was at 880 Sydney Rd, listed as a medical practitioner. In 19331 he was at 55 Well Street, Brighton. From 1936 to 1942 he was at 266 Buckley Street, Maribrynong, still listed as a medical practitioner.
