Dr Stephenson gained his qualifications from Edinburgh (MB and ChM) in 1890. He was recorded in the 1892 Sands and McDougall Melbourne and Suburban Directory as being the resident surgeon of the Melbourne Homœopathic Hospital. By 1896 he had moved to High Street in Dunedin, New Zealand.
