Brother of William, he had also trained at the University of Otago in New Zealand. He commenced work as a Resident Medical Officer at the Melbourne Homœopathic Hospital in 1919.
 

According to Templeton, both brothers were well regarded at the Hospital and were remembered for their thoughtfulness and genuine consideration. To avoid confusion they were named “Dr Bill” and “Dr Bob”.
