An advertisement in 1876

In the 1876 edition of Pugh’s Almanac & Queensland Directory, William Hopkins placed an advertisement stating that he was a bookseller, stationer, news and sewing machine agent. He was also “agent for F.N. Collins’ (late Bell’s) genuine homœopathic medicines” – referring to Bell’s homœopathic pharmacy in Sydney, which had been bought by F.N. Collins. At that stage he was located near the post office in Denham Street, Rockhampton.

An advertisement in 1895

In the 1895 Pugh’s Almanac & Queensland Directory, William Hopkins placed an advertisement stating that he had on sale a well-selected stock of books, stationery and office requisites. He also sold homœopathic medicines alongside other products such as pure photographic chemicals, Berlin wools, beads and fancy work, photographs of public buildings, and cricketers’ outfits. His address was at East Street, Rockhampton.
